PPA Teacher
Job Description
For many Primary School Teachers or Supply Teachers this is a dream position. Every Teacher in a school gets release time from their class each work for Planning Preparation and Assessment or PPA.
For a school to be able to do this they need to have another teacher who can step in to cover the class. Schools have varying ways of tackling this problem. By far the most popular way of achieving this is for a school to employ a specialist teacher in one particular subject who teachers across the entire school. In the last school I worked in there was a specialist Music teacher another popular subject for this type of role is PE.
The Role of a PPA Teacher often has less Planning to do because you may only cover one subject, or in other scenarios the Class Teachers plan for the whole week and give you the prepared lessons ready to deliver to the class.
